New to Web3 content creation?

Avoid these 4 rookie mistakes

Ever thought your newbie days in Web3 content creation were behind you?

Get outta here, you Dunning-Kruger effect-suffering typa individual.

But don't sweat it. We've all been there.

We started from the bottom, just like Drake (shoutout to All the Dogs).

And we've learned some things we wish we'd known back then.

So here's our 4 wisdom nuggets, served to you on a silver platter:

Viewing it as a low-status job

It's all about the research

The hourly wage trap

Play infinite games

Viewing it as a low-status job

Most people contemplate the choice of going for web3 writing because it’s not “ respectable”.

Here’s the thing, buddy:

you don’t need to be a 40 y.o man in a suit working from the office to be respectable by people you don’t give a rat’s ass about.

Your job’s respectability is assessed by its:

  • Value

  • Profitability

  • How many people you can serve

  • How big of a bag you can secure with it

Check, check, check, check.

It's all about the research

Web3 is all about:

  • Fact-checking

  • Gathering as much data as possible

  • Analyzing it closely

Instead of rephrasing the first you see on some web3 trend, research it for multiple hours, gather the info in one place, analyze it deeply, and then let your keyboard do its thing.

To put it simply:

the more prepared you are, the better you fight

That’s actually why we have 20+ years each preparing for our first sexual intercourse with a female.

The hourly wage trap

Getting paid hourly or at a rate per character?

С’mon, the days of working on Upwork fighting for “dollar per hour” lead are gone (or for some of you not, LOL).

Working at a humiliating rate is where your buddies Serge and Nick started, so there’s nothing to be ashamed of.

Nonetheless, once you get enough skill and portfolio pieces from working like that – run from it.

Start valuing yourself properly by offering writing packages or charging on a monthly basis instead (whatever you’re comfortable charging with).

Trust us, you're worth more than a bidding war on Upwork.

Play an infinite game

If you’re playing the game to secure that W, you’ve already lost.
Choose your infinite game and play it for the sake of playing.

You won’t always see instant results.

Think about that Mr. Pretty Beard aka James Harden.

The credentials of this mf look like this:

And he still has 0 rings, like all of you that b*tches, BUT…

He’s passionate about the game in the first place.

That is what keeps him going.

There won’t always be reinforcing mechanisms in place.

If your ass is not okay with that - just give it up now, because you NGMI…

4 rookie mistakes to avoid at all costs

  1. Viewing it as a low-status job

    Web3 content creation isn't low-status – it's the future.

Respectability comes from the value you bring, not a fancy office and a suit.

  2. It's all about the research

In Web3, deep research is essential.

    Always do your due diligence.

  3. The hourly wage trap

Time to break free from the hourly rates.

You're worth more than a bidding war on Upwork.

  4. Play infinite games

If you're just in it for quick wins, you're missing the point.

There won't always be immediate rewards, and you gotta be okay with that.

So there you have it – common traps you might not even know you're falling into and how to avoid them.

Web3 content sucks.

But what if it doesn’t have to?
