Striking a Balance in Web3 Content Creation: Is It About You, Your Readers, or Both?

The secret to finding that “Sweet Spot”

s

Ever feel torn between writing for yourself and writing for your audience?

Trust me, it's a dilemma that even the most experienced creators in Web3 struggle with.

But striking the right balance?

Ah, that’s where your content will slap harder than prime Vincent Carter’s dunks.

With over 2,500 content pieces under my belt, I may have something to share with you.So today, we'll take a deep dive into the evolution of a content creator:

From a self-centered beginner

An audience-pleaser

An expert who nails the balance.

The Beginner Writer: "I'm cool, look at me!"

Beginner writers often approach content creation as if they are the main characters of an epic saga.

"Readers should feel lucky to read my precious insights," they think.

Even if this is true, you’re not going to make it.

Why?

Because this mindset creates an unbridgeable gap between the creator and the audience.

The Psychological Trap

The beginner sees every word as a monument to their genius.

They're like someone who's just discovered crypto and thinks they're now Warren Buffett of the Web3 world.

But we’re not, okay?

The Solution

To evolve, you must realize that the reader is not just a passive audience.

He wants to feel connected with you. He wants to have a dialogue.

How can you shift from being the main character to the reader's guide?

Start addressing their:

  • Needs

  • Questions

  • Pain points

But don’t go to extremes as well, and here’s why.

The Advanced Writer: "The Reader Is the Hero!"

Advanced writers have often spent enough time in the "self-centered zone" to realize this isn't the path to sustainable success.

They pivot, making the content all about the reader.

However, sometimes they do it too much, sacrificing their voice.

But we don’t want to lose that unique voice.

At the end of the day, that’s what makes you special.

The Solution

Inject your authentic self back into the content.

Offer your viewpoints.

But do it in a way that elevates the reader's experience and knowledge.

And that’s where we will start seeing that perfect balance.

Lemme explain.

The Expert Writer: "A Symphony of Balance"

Expert content creators in Web3 have internalized the wisdom that readers are the main characters of any narrative.

But they also understand that their own insights and stories are invaluable tools for delivering a message that is more:

  • Impactful

  • Relatable

  • Credible

That’s why in the intro to this newsletter, I mentioned that I wrote over 2500 content pieces.

It wasn’t a flex.

It was a reason for your listening to my perspective on this topic.

Feel the difference?

The Solution

Craft your content as a dialogue that serves both parties.

Merge your unique insights with actionable tips that solve the reader's problem.

So, what’s the sweet spot?

Mastering this balance is like achieving consensus in a blockchain network.

It's the sweet spot where value is optimized for all parties involved.

Make it about the reader, but top it off with your stories and unique perspective to serve their needs and aspirations.

This is a win-win scenario for everyone.
